Directors raise £190k
A team of six intrepid Tesco directors have raised a mammoth £190,000 for children with cancer after cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groat’s, successfully smashing their initial target by an incredible £40,000.
Not content with beating their fundraising target, the team of novice cyclists from Tesco Head Office in Cheshunt and Welwyn aimed to conquer the challenge in approximately 72 hours. Riding in relay for one hour at a time, day and night, they completed the gruelling 875 miles across the length of Great Britain in just over 56 hours, nearly 17 hours quicker than expected.
Roger Fogg, Commercial Director Health, Beauty and Household, who coordinated the cycle said: “CLIC Sargent is an amazing charity that helps families cope with childhood cancer. We wanted to take on a challenge that would allow us to raise as much as possible to help fund nurses so children with cancer can lead as normal a life as possible.”
