Didcot DC fish-a-thon
Didcot DC held a very successful fish-a-thon in August at Boddington Reservoir near Oxford. The event was organised by Peter Smith who got together a team of 20 fishermen and two helpers.
The weather was great and so was the fishing. All 20 fishermen caught fish!
The fishing marathon took place over 12 hours, starting at 8am and finishing at 8pm. The first fish was caught within 30 minutes - a 6lb carp caught by Tim Hadland.
In total, a whopping 1,742lb of fish were caught. The winner was Simon Clover with an impressive catch of 137lb. In second place, and only 1lb behind, was Paul Tucker who had a slow start and caught nearly all his fish in the last two hours of the day.
Peter Smith caught the smallest fish of the day, which came in at 1oz. Rod Cox caught the biggest fish, which came in at 18lb.
But the most important part of the day was the money raised - over £1,200.
A big thank you and a very well done to you all!
