Crediton conquer Falls
Seventy three fearless fundraisers conquered a terrifying 220 foot abseil down Canonteign Falls and raised a record £12,000, smashing the £10,000 target, for CLIC Sargent.
A team of eight staff from Tesco Crediton rose to the challenge and raised over £1,200 for the partnership. They bravely plunged down the side of England’s largest waterfall, swinging across and abseiling directly through the icy water cascading down the falls. At the same time their efforts were supported by staff in store who organised a staff bag packing event to encourage extra donations.
Ian Dyer, Store Manager, was first over the edge. He said: “This was a great event to be able to take part in. The organisation by the CLIC Sargent team was brilliant and the whole day was a worthwhile experience for a very worthwhile cause. I’m really proud of everybody who took part. I would also like to thank our customers who were extremely generous in their donations.”
Alison Ramsay, Community Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent said: “I would like to thank everybody who took part over the weekend and helped make the abseil such a success. We had people take part who were afraid of heights and water and even some who had vertigo. Everyone took on the challenge and most came down wanting to go again.”
