Tesco raising money for CLIC Sargent

Barry Island Dip

Sixty brave and wacky South Wales residents, including Tesco staff from the area, gathered on the sands of Barry Island in January to throw themselves into the freezing waters. A brilliant £5,000 was raised in sponsorship for children and young people with cancer.

The first ever Dip with a Nip at Barry Island, famous for the BBC sitcom ‘Gavin & Stacey’, saw the likes of vikings and bananas happily running full pace into the chilling waters of Whitmore Bay. The more hesitant few were carried or thrown in by their team members, making their experience all the more memorable!

There were plenty of beaming faces emerging from the icy waters and some couldn’t resist the opportunity for a second dip! A fantastic amount was raised by everyone who took part.

Many thanks to all the daring dippers and we hope it provided a good kick-start to a brand new year.
