Tesco stores search for talented children to design charity Christmas card
Wednesday 07 July 2010
Children are being asked to get into the festive spirit early this year and take to the drawing board to design a Christmas card. The winning card will raise money for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent, Tesco Charity of the Year 2010.
The competition will unearth a talented youngster who will win the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see their winning design transformed into a Christmas card and sold in 400 Tesco stores across the UK.
Open to children aged 12 or under the competition is split into 10 regional heats. The overall winner and regional runners-up will also receive a range of fantastic STABILO products, Illoom Balloons and vouchers for Tesco Party Products – the perfect ingredients for a spectacular Christmas party.
The winning card will be sold for £1 with fifty pence from each sale donated directly to CLIC Sargent Tesco Charity of the Year 2010. The partnership aims to raise £5 million to fund specialist children’s nurses across the UK to help children with cancer spend more time at home and less time in hospital.
Tesco is also calling for all primary schools to raise awareness of CLIC Sargent and enter a class of young artists who have each designed a Christmas card for the chance to win the coveted title of ‘Tesco Most Artistic Class 2010’.
The finalists will win a bespoke package of STABILO products, Illoom Balloons, and vouchers to spend at Tescoparty.com. In addition the overall winner of the Most Artistic Class competition will receive a professional collage printed on canvas of all the individual entries courtesy of Tescophoto.com.
To enter children can simply pick up an entry form from the Customer Service Desk in store now, or visit www.clicsargent-tesco.org.uk/get-involved/christmas for more on how to enter, details on the schools competition, all terms and conditions and information about CLIC Sargent and the Tesco Charity of the Year partnership.
Donna Davies, Greetings Card Buyer at Tesco said; “This is a really exciting opportunity for all those young artists out there to get creative and win the chance to showcase their design on a national stage. It will also help us raise valuable funds and awareness for CLIC Sargent to provide support to the families and children affected by childhood cancer."
