Tesco raising money for CLIC Sargent

Tesco staff join children with cancer to launch charity partnership

Monday 29 March 2010

Harry and Cardiff store staff at launchYoung cancer patients from across the country have been joining Tesco management and staff to launch the Charity of the Year partnership with CLIC Sargent.

Local media turned out in force as 35 stores and distribution centres – from Dundee to Plymouth and Belfast to Maidstone – helped to publicise the campaign.

The events kicked off a year of fundraising with the aim of raising £5 million to provide specialist children’s cancer nurses. These nurses will allow children to spend more time at home and less time in hospital.

At each launch event, Tesco staff wore nurses hats (pictured above) to raise awareness about the need for CLIC Sargent Nurses.  The eye-catching hats were generously printed by Anton Printers.

Tesco staff and customers will be raising money through a variety of fun and exciting events, ranging from sponsored sky dives and abseils to organising cake bakes and fancy dress days in store.

Donations will be made to the charity from the sale of certain products in store, while a contribution will be made every time a cash machine is used at Tesco. CLIC Sargent will also be holding a national collection outside Tesco stores later in the year.
