Save as you Earn scheme raises funds
Thursday 17 June 2010
Over the past six years Tesco Save as You Earn (SAYE) schemes have raised almost £100,000 for charity thanks to staff donations from savers left with small change after snapping up their shares.
This year the scheme has given £21,810.42 to CLIC Sargent, the Tesco Charity of the Year 2010. This is an amazing achievement and only made possible by the generosity of Tesco staff who have supported this donation scheme.
Staff pay into SAYE schemes for either three or five years and at the end of the day the money they have saved is used to purchase shares. Rather than being sent any money left over they are given the option to donate the remaining money to our current Charity of the Year.
Julie Worrall, Tesco Campaign Manager at CLIC Sargent, said: “Every day 10 families are told their child has cancer and treatment can last up to three years. SAYE is a fantastic scheme and has raised invaluable funds for the partnership which will help children with cancer to spend more time at home and less time in hospital.
“On behalf of CLIC Sargent I would like to thank everyone at Tesco for all their support.”
