Friday 02 April 2010

Canterbury Jack aleTesco and Shepherd Neame have teamed up to raise £20,000 for Tesco Charity of the Year CLIC Sargent, by launching Canterbury Jack, a hand-crafted Kentish Ale.

Canterbury Jack will be available in 500ml bottles from Tesco stores across the UK giving customers the opportunity to enjoy real ale whilst contributing to the children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.  The money raised from the ale will contribute to the 5 million pound total that Tesco and CLIC Sargent aim to raise this year through their partnership. Money raised will help fund CLIC Sargent specialist children’s cancer nurses across the UK so children with cancer can spend more time at home and less time in hospital

Ian Targett, ale buyer for Tesco said: “This is the third time that Tesco have created a charity ale, and each has been enthusiastically received by customers.  It’s great to have Shepherd Neame on board for the partnership this year, their wealth of experience and expertise brings a great ale to Tesco shelves for a very good cause.”

Canterbury Jack will be available in 350 Tesco stores nationwide from 8th March and costs £1.74.
